ICMCA has two areas of initiative in its Advocacy work.
First and most important is to raise the awareness of and appreciation for the CMC designation – with the public and executives/managers of private business, government departments and NFP’s looking for consulting services. Our social media, regular media and other forms of promotion of the designation is meant to build the reputation of the CMC designation overall.
An important aspect of this general awareness is to also ensure clients and the public recognize the protection against poor consulting that the CMC designation provides. It is also important for clients and the public to understand that the ICMCA is the professional Institute where any complaints may be lodged if they do experience any concerns with one of our members.
Second is our work with Government Ministers and Civil Servants that are involved in regulating the professions in Alberta, and specifically Alberta Labour and Immigration that oversee the Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act (POARA) under which auspices the ICMCA functions and the CMC designation falls. We actively advance positive relationships and a professional reputation for our Institute and professional Registrants.
Alberta Labour and Immigration oversees the POAR Act and the POARA-ICMCA Regulation 166/2005.
