Ottawa, Ontario – August 10, 2026 – The CMC-Canada Pro Bono Program has completed a no-charge management consulting engagement for Overcomers United ("Overcomers"). The CMC-Canada Pro Bono Program sources management consultants for pro bono help. Their collaboration boosts the support available to organizations like Overcomers United.
Overcomers United is a community organization founded by Veronica Bloomfield to address social isolation in our communities. Through this work, Overcomers builds community response capacity and supports individuals navigating isolation with practical, on-the-ground programming.
Certified Management Consultant Leslie A. Johnson, FCMC, M.Sc. (Econ.), and project management professional Evelyn Malyon, PMP, provided pro bono expertise to Overcomers United through the CMC-Canada Pro Bono Program.
Over the course of the engagement – running from January 28, 2026 to August 5, 2026 and totaling 55 consulting hours (35 contributed by the FCMC volunteer and 20 by the PMP volunteer) – the volunteer team transferred knowledge and skill in strategic planning methodology; developed and drafted the organization's 2026–2031 Strategic Plan in close cooperation and consultation with Overcomers; led a critical review of the resulting plan; and guided discussion on plan implementation, board formation, and revenue generation, together with related management and governance counsel.
As a result of the engagement, Overcomers United can now move forward with completing its board formation, pursuing aggressive revenue generation, and implementing its new strategic plan.
The engagement also increased Overcomers' organizational capacity by deepening and sharpening comprehension of an important and innovative social administrative initiative – one that arises from the organization's contemporary, first-hand knowledge of community response to social isolation in our communities.
