Entrepreneurship in the Service of Consulting
Large companies across Canada have embraced “corporate entrepreneurship labs” to develop new products and services. But what if the same entrepreneurship theories used for start-ups and new products could also be applied to solving a more generalized set of business problems such increasing manufacturing efficiency, developing CSR programs or reducing customer churn? That’s the goal of the “Corporate Innovation Program” at the University of Waterloo’s Conrad School of Entrepreneurship & Business. Prof. Holt will discuss the rationale for this innovative approach, the methodology used for these student-led consulting engagements and some preliminary lessons from the program that can help to accelerate the future of consulting.

The Reconciliation Economy
Canada is on a path to creating a reconciliation economy. There are a multitude of complementary forces in play. As consultants, what are our obligations and opportunities? Is there an obligation for us to adopt Truth and Reconciliation Commission Call to Action 92 and/or help our clients adopt it? At a minimum, Joseph will outline that we have a both an obligation and the opportunity to make economic reconciliation for our clients real. How do we use our skills as strategists, implementors and change management practitioners to help our clients be at the forefront of economic reconciliation, and realize and leverage this competitive advantage? Through the application of an Economic Reconciliation Accountability Framework (for clients and consultants) that enables our clients to move from awareness to commitment to results.
