Register for one or a bundle of classes today!

    Master Class #1:
Establishing an Organizing Team and Engaging the Dialogue Participants.

This first Master Class in the series will introduce the CDS Organizational Improvement System – what it is, its applications, benefits from its use, the kind of tasks it can take on, and some context on its foundation. An early step with any dialogue-based assignment is to effectively engage with your client to start to understand the nature of their challenge, get a client team organized, and co-create a plan to address their challenge using CDS. The focus of the class would be on establishing and rounding-out the Organizing Team itself; confirming the need for a dialogue (fit); getting appropriate sponsorship and leaders in place; getting the Team aligned on the challenge and their roles; and, selecting and engaging the participants for the Dialogue.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • An understanding of some of the key principles, processes and tools used for engaging your client in a dialogue process to address a complex challenge
    • An appreciation for the nature of the different roles provided by members of the Organizing Team
    • An understanding of how to think through the selection of dialogue participants and their engagement

    Pre-read/work:

    • Info webinar
    • CDS Background PDF

    Take-away/Materials:

    • Guide for Selecting and Engaging Participants
    • Process Planning Memo for Community Literacy Challenge Dialogue

    Presenters: Keith Jones, CMC
    CPD: 1.5point
    Cost: single class: $75    4-class bundle: $250

    Master Class #2:
    Crafting a Challenge Paper

The second Master Class will again reset where we are in the dialogue journey as a reminder, then focus on step 4 – Seek Participant Input where the work of the Organizing Team sees the development of a thoughtfully prepared Challenge Paper is designed and developed so it will entice and engage the carefully considered dialogue participants in an asynchronous conversation. At this point, the dialogue is launched and becomes “public” being distributed for feedback on the key challenge to 10s, if not 100s, of diverse participants.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • An appreciation for why it is important to take an initial stab at organizing and sharing your initial thoughts, no matter how rough, into an accessible document that invites serious review and feedback on – the key challenge, background, assumptions, expected outcomes, concepts, critical questions, action options, and next steps.

    Pre-read/work:

    Master Class #3:
Designing and Delivering an Effective Face-to-Face Dialogue

The third Master Class will once again remind everyone of the dialogue journey to this point and then focus on how to design and deliver an effective face-to-face Dialogue – a workshop, which is an integral step, number 6, in the dialogue continuum. This workshop is crucial step in shifting from purposeful conversation to action. It is the point at which the dialogue moves from essential exploration and relationship building to capturing shared intentions and making decisions and planning for action. New learnings and insights are important to be documented. The success of the workshop is driven by a carefully crafted set of expected outcomes which in turn: frame the design of progressive set of sessions, each with clear purpose, resources to inform them, and clear tasks for the participants to accomplish; direct what needs to be in the Workshop Workbook; and how precisely how success will be evaluated at the end of the workshop.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Understand and appreciate that in dialogue-based journey, the workshop is only one step in a journey of exploration, alignment, decision-making, planning and action.
    • Appreciating that the success of a dialogue workshop depends on the careful interplay of three elements: first with the expected outcomes for the workshop, which in turn drive the design of the sessions, the structure and content of the workbook, and the evaluation criteria for measuring success at the conclusion of the workshop.

    Pre-read/work:

    • Completed design template for the Community Literacy Challenge Dialogue

    Master Class #4:
    Logic/Outcome Modelling

The last Master Class in the 4-part series will start by reminding everyone of the dialogue journey and then the “act” dialogue steps 7 and 8 of the cycle. For this session we will talk about the various ways in which dialogue journey can be encapsulated and put in a form which supports strategic action and acknowledges what has been learned, and helps to maintain the momentum achieved over the course of the dialogue process. In some cases, the progress made may indicate that a second, deeper dive dialogue is warranted. As one way of summarizing the results of a dialogue journey, we will look in particular at the power of different kinds logic/outcome modelling schemes for helping everyone see how all the components can be portrayed on a single page.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Understanding various ways in which a multi-stakeholder, dialogue-based journey can be concluded to transition and organize groups for concrete action, capture insights, and sometimes decide on a further progressive, or new, cycle of the dialogue process
    • Appreciate how different renderings for logic/outcome modelling can serve as powerful concluding frameworks for conveying a compelling plan visually and in helping people see themselves in the overall case and narrative for change.

Big Data & Analytics for Consultants

There's a lot of talk of big talk about Big Data. How can management consultants use this tool? The lack of analytic talent may be an opportunity for consultants, but are in-house analytic teams now performing the traditional consultant's role of gathering, analyzing and synthesizing data? Is the hype about Big Data simply a fad, or should consultants adapt to a new normal?

Your website should be part of your marketing mix. As someone once said, "50 percent of my marketing budget is completely wasted. I just don't know which 50 percent." The purpose of this webinar is to outline what makes a modern, successful website. By using Google best business practices as a foundation, we will remove the mystery of what makes a website work. Using this non-subjective approach will make it easier to understand the benefits of your website.

This training course is designed to help consultants understand Big Data and how it fits within the Certified Management Consultant's 5-phase model.

By tackling this course, you will learn:

    • The three components of Big Data and Analytics
    • The three key categories of analytic techniques and types of software in use
    • Linkages that exist between the CMC 5-phase model and the cross industry standard process for data mining
    • The benefits, to both consultants and clients, of integrating Big Data techniques into the consulting process

Available entirely online, this course is a combination of required reading, videos, and short quizzes to test for understanding. Appropriate time required to complete the course is five hours depending on your current knowledge of the field. CMCs are eligible for 5 CPD points upon completion.
